Love Is A Creative Act

Davis Keene·September 25, 2024

Love is a creative act.
I learned that from you,
watching as you danced around the corners
of my mind, sweeping as you went.

To love is to be creative, it is to
recieve another's problems and to solve them
with quick wit, humor, and care. It is
to celebrate with gestures as unique as the love itself.

For love, we create monuments. We find cures.
We solve worldly predicaments
because our beloved stands in the same space
as harm, as chaos, as fear.

Creation is a sacred practice. It requires
pulling the fabric of an idea from the unconscious mind,
intent on being woven into the world.
It is to pull anatomy out of marble, to extract poems from pens,
to be vulnerable.

If love demands creation,
and creation is sacred,
then love too is a consecrated act.
To love creatively is to love wholly.
